The worlds most stupid seat. If you are going to pay for for business class then try Cathay, Singapore, Emirates, Qantas, Qatar with is Q Suites or just about any other airlines without those shit seats.

This is identical to Virgin Atlantic’s A-330-300. Just awful. It makes you wonder what seats they rejected when they bought these ones. 😂😂
I am travelling to Rarotonga next month business class and probably the last time with the old/odd set up. I think as you have said, the food and staff more than make up for the weird configuration. I really love watching out the window and it is nearly impossible when it is behind you. I never considered the reflection on the screen but that could be annoying. I am looking forward to flying the new product when it comes to Christchurch.
I agree…air nz bc is Shiite….all puff no substance. Terrible attendants ,terrible food and the lounge food is also Shiite. The stuff they removed ,ie a bc kit, bottle of water ,all gone ….replaced by , nothing. Just sour faced attendants, broken down seats, services…but seriously air nz is riding on their funny safety videos. Not funny anymore….Yes the layout is Shiite too. But man, the food has gone downill. To the extent I prefer to not travel air nz ever anymore. Not worth it….the arrogance is not supported by the actual experience…but typical of nz, be expensive and pretend you are premiere when u r budget af….

I try to avoid Air NZ where possible, but this seat layout is poor, and no amenities in the bathroom? Just not good enough, more reason then to avoid more.

1: I never had an issue with this Business class and have flown it across the Pacific. Think some people are just precious (and no of course there are better but it’s not bad). 2: I will say it did look a bit tatty on your flight though.

Seriously, if you want comfort on a 2/3hr flight, Business class is not a good option. Save Business Class for flight of 7hrs or longer and just go Premium Economy for short haul , you'll save more for the same experience…
ANZ is crap.
My recent OS trip involved both Air Canada, and Air NZ.
Hands down Air NZ offered a far better professionalism and service.
However, yeah the seating you experienced, would not be one I would like, so yeah an upgrade to come .

Thank you for the video. Booked on that same flight in J in Oct. The seat layout is a bit strange but it’s only 3 hours. Looking forward to Air NZ. Haven’t flown then in years but remember they were very good to my elderly grandmother way back then
We travelled Air NZ Business Class very recently. Wonderful service, and frankly it doesn't matter at all about which way the seats are facing, you only get a couple of mins scenery as you leave/ arrive and the rest of the flight is either over water or it's dark. The service far exceeds the lack of view.
Oh and we were even offered drinks before we sat down. The staff made it a very very pleasant experience, and the hardware wasn't that important. Congrats to Air NZ you make the very best of the flying experience.

The problem with Businesses class is the weird posh hipster food.
Love air nz, 2 air nz aircraft have been refitted to a much better seating config, another 2 are in Singapore getting refitted now, flew one recently and had the best sleep on an aircraft ever.. ❤❤ air nz
I never understood why air nz chose this layout. And as an avigeek, not being able to clearly see out the window would do my head in. Thank god they will be upgrading their biz class cabin in the coming years.

I love the layout, it is one of the widest business class beds and tables of any business class. It is a bit weird to look at everyone’s socks tho, it amazed me how many people de-shoe before tack off.
Its not great but compared to what Qantas offers on the Trans-Tasman routes, Air NZ is your best bet.
Use NZ business class a few weeks ago. Vancouver to Auckland, Auckland to Brisbane. More comfortable than I expected but there is absolutely nowhere to put anything. Losing stuff is more likely.
They retrofitting all 787 business ckass seats currently ! And the design was actually a business class virgin altanic design back in 1990s ! So yes old but now apparently the new 787 9 in some airc saraft chage updated ! And you can blame party thr former ceo who is now the prime minister of nz for not investing in current products because his own personal fortune would be less as is a still a major shareholder in he company ! It's game changer but sadly missed the customer experience even though te rlew on the air nz making millions for he shareholders ! But kept him In a job ! He but won't be missed as a ceo !

If it's famous for all the wrong reasons, then it's infamous.
I’ve spent days in those seats. Terrible on short haul but oversight or long-haul you need to go to first class to find a more comfortable bed.
Have you tried the Emirates flight between Sydney and Christchurch? I did it recently and it was fabulous in business class.
Sadly I just can't justify spending that much over economy,

I remember back in the eighties, Air New Zealand offered the hot towel to all passengers in economy, too. I also remember using the metal utensils in economy, too.
Thank you for a wonderful review. Something we have never experienced (business class flights). Flown to NZ a few times and loved Air NZ. Wanting to fly to Fiji so your comment about Fiji Air was helpful too.
