You only made it confusing
I don’t like that insider information is illegal. I feel like it should be. It’s more manipulative to try to hide the information.
Are you sure Bud & Geko buying Andicot Steel is insider trading? Bud follows Wildman on public streets to a restaurant where he sees him meet with people in public, nothing illegal far as I know. This gives Bud and Geko a clue as to Wildman's intensions. If Wildman wanted to keep this secret he should not have met in public. I do not believe this is illegal to buy Google stock if I see Buffet meet with CEO of Google in a restaurant.
Love that movie…and Trading places.
Illegal then. Commonplace now.
Insider trading. Gecko should be in congress.
"Money is something you need only if you don't die tomorrow."
Thank you for the explanations, which since I'd never been in business cleared a lot of things up. "Wall Street" contains a minor error at the beginning. Bud's cubicle buddy is talking about Gekko getting on the phone to sell a lot of stuff after the Challenger explosion, but they'd already established that the movie takes place in 1985. The Challenger disaster occurred in late January, 1986.
One of my favorite money quotes comes from The Wire: “Money has no owners; only spenders.”
Would you mind giving the "insider information" explanation to Nancy Pelosi? I don't think she's aware. Thank you!
A pile of raw meat with a raw egg is no perk. I would've told them to cook it. Yuck
Amazing review! Thanks!
Did you ever notice that Bud's friend talks about the Challenger disaster in 1985? Challenger blew up in 1986. Surprising error from Oliver Stone.
“Perks” 😂
I see what you did there! 😉
an important movie, especially to understand what is happening at the highest levels in the US right now, at a far greater scale. Hostile takeover.
8:02 RIP Terrence Stamp
it's funny that you find it odd that this movie would inspire many. Many understand that movies are movies. All movies have a liberal slant. All. Few take the ethics pushed by movies seriously. Besides, Gordon Gecko does exactly what Nancy Pelosi does. But Pelosi isn't in jail. That's the real odd thing. 3:50 "insider information is very much illegal" Ha. Not for congress. Not for Pelosi.
It’s based on pieces of eight- Spanish money financed the revolution. I miss the 1/8s….
Gordon is like Satan in Paradise Lost.
This movie changed my life. I snuck in to see it when I was young, and have been hooked ever since. I have my kids watch it because to me it reveals the two sides of capitalism: do you shape a company up or engage in creative destruction? Can be applied to many situations. Also, the Sheen father son/dynamic never ceases to move me. Is the subtext to be a real actor (Martin) not a quick buck artist (Charlie)? Whatever the case Bud’s admission to his dad ‘ I may not have told you but I love you Dad’ is an amazing bit of cinema. Gets me every time.
Great video!
Will you do a video for the sequel: "Money Never Sleeps"?
