Without IB, government would do the exactly the same thing, plus several decade long projects + the Manhattan one. The only reason for the government to not open a bank and lend the loan directly is not because it doesn't work, it's because it work too well for the poor. Lived most of my life in a country where most big banks are state owned, I know it's true.
Just take the red pill, IB was basically a commercial bank build and serve for billionaire and that's it.
Just crossed 200k, it's almost 6x growth from my starting point of 36k at the beginning of the year. My long-term goals are lining up nicely

When you realise the percentage of that revenue is the banks. However you can't complain. You didn't do the hard work. You get your percentage the rest is there's. However a investment is better than no investment. You will still get profits at the end of the day. If you ok with the terms and conditions I'm not against you it is hard work and the bank needs to make money somehow. If you invest yourself you can make way more than 10 percent.
I've been thinking about this whole investment think. Somehow, I think the equations are wrong, Here's what I think. You have 1$. You go and buy bread. 1$ = 1 bread. You have 1$. You go and invest. After a day, if everything goes really well, you get 2 $. But 1$ != 2$. So, during that time, something happened to the dollar. What exactly happened? Well, the value of the stocks fluctuated. Because of the fluctuation, the stocks you invested in gained more value. So, the value of the $ you invested represents a function that describes the fluctuation. But since it represents something different than the $ you used to buy bread, it's not correct to use the same sign. You can't use the same notation for something that represents a fluctuation and also something that represent value at a given moment. So, in order for this to make sense, you need to consider that the $ you use to invest is actually d$/dt. A derivative. In the same way acceleration is the derivative of speed.
